What are your business goals for 2014?
2014 has just begun and do you know what it has in store for you and your business? Whilst we can’t see into the future, spending time identifying your goals for the coming 12 months can ensure that you spend both your time and your money wisely.
It is certainly true that sometimes businesses can get so bogged down in creating and refining their objectives that they lose sight of the practicalities of actually getting on with it. Whilst some time for reflection is useful, there is also no time like the present for putting plans into action and getting things done – for giving something a try rather than spending forever pondering about whether it will work. However without some kind of plan, how do you know where to start?
A framework can be a useful method to help distill your thoughts and get you focussed. Whenever we approach new client work we use the 4 Cs of Marketing as a framework for our thinking:
- Consumers – What do you know about your Consumers? Are they your ideal consumers or not? What do they think about your product or service and is it what you want them to think?
- Costs – Are you confident about your Pricing strategy? Are you confident cost is not a barrier to purchase or a reason for switch? Have you thought about emotional costs, as well as financial ones?
- Convenience – Are you making it as convenient as possible for your consumers to purchase from you? What barriers are there and how can you remove them?
- Communications – What are your current marketing communications and how are they working? How are your competitors communicating? Are you communicating at the right time and in the right way for your target Consumers?
Spending some time thinking about these areas can help you identify opportunities to develop your business over the next 12 months.
